UPU official website features postman story from China Post
|China Post News|2025-12-29

Recently, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) released a short video submitted by China Post on the theme “Post for People: Local Service. Global Reach.” on its official website and YouTube, telling the touching story of Muhamaiti Bek, a postman in Altay Postal Branch, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Muhamaiti Bek is responsible for mail delivery on the route from Burqin to Hemuhanas. With a round-trip journey of over 440 kilometers, this route is covered in ice and snow for six to seven months of a year, with winter temperatures dropping to as low as minus 40 degrees centigrade. On this tough route, Muhamaiti Bek has cumulatively logged a safe driving distance of over 1.2 million kilometers without accident and delivered more than 2 million pieces of mail and newspapers and periodicals, achieving “zero delays, zero losses and zero errors.” He is, therefore, affectionately known as the “green-clad warrior on horseback” by people of all ethnic groups in the local area. The commitment and dedication of Muhamaiti Bek epitomize the continuous extension of the universal postal service by China Post and the steady improvement of its service quality. Currently, for China Post, the coverage rate of national township postal network and the access rate of mail services in administrative villages remain at 100 percent. And its direct mail services have been made available to 3,461 border villages and over 150 border and coastal defense units nationwide.
