On January 16, the results of the 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Functional Autonomous Vehicle Competition were announced. The whole-range coordinated smart mail route solution, jointly submitted by Shenzhen Postal Branch and Zelostech, was awarded the second prize in the category of the scenario-based competition.

As the country’s first professional competition focusing on the dual verification of functional autonomous vehicle technology and safety, this competition adopted a real-scenario assessment model under the principle that the competition venue is the real scenario, and the competition is the real practice, and attracted such enterprises with scenario-based applications as China Post, SF Express and STO, as well as numerous functional autonomous vehicle R&D companies. The competition featured two categories: the scenario-based competition and the special test competition. Among them, the scenario-based competition focused on evaluating the practical application value of autonomous vehicle technology in real-world scenarios. The joint solution by Shenzhen Postal Branch and Zelostech stood out by virtue of its innovative practice.

Centering on reconstructing operational models, the solution prioritizes scenarios including last-mile delivery via autonomous vehicles and unmanned transfer. It eliminates the traditional re-sorting process for misrouted mail items by building a flat and direct network among collection and delivery offices, thus achieving a step change improvement in operational efficiency. Eventually, it provides a replicable GBA model for smart logistics.

This award represents a major breakthrough in smart logistics transformation, according to an executive of Shenzhen Postal Branch. To date, Shenzhen Postal Branch has deployed 65 autonomous vehicles across the city, to optimize last-mile delivery routes through technology empowerment and to explore an effective path for the intelligent upgrading of traditional postal services. Looking ahead, Shenzhen Postal Branch will continue to deepen the application of intelligent technologies and boost the construction of an intelligent connected transportation ecosystem in the Greater Bay Area.
