Recently, the results of the World’s Best Stamp 2025 competition, jointly organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the World Association for the Development of Philately (WADP) and the Philatelic Federation of South Africa, were officially announced. Bell and Drum Towers, the fifth stamp in the special stamps World Cultural Heritage - Beijing Central Axis issued by China Post, won the laurel crown of the “World’s Best Stamp 2025” and the first place in the “Best Mixed Printing Stamp” category. Möbius Strip, the fourth stamp in the special stamps Beauty of Mathematics also issued by China Post, won the first place in the “Most Innovative Stamp Format” category. The stamp Rare Animals in China issued by Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau ranked first in the “Best Intaglio Stamp” category.
In 2025, the UPU launched the World’s Best Stamp competition globally for the first time, aiming to highlight the outstanding achievements in the artistic design and printing technology of stamps, and promote innovations and development in these areas. According to the organizers, a total of 195 stamps and souvenir sheets were entered into the competition by 66 UPU member countries (regions) and the United Nations Postal Administration. The competition was divided into five categories: the Most Innovative Stamp Format, the Best Souvenir Sheet, the Best Intaglio Stamp, the Best Offset Stamp, and the Best Mixed Printing Stamp, each with three winners. The jury was composed of academics and stamp designers designated by the WADP as well as philatelists accredited by the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP). The “World’s Best Stamp 2025” was the competition’s best stamp finally selected from the first place winners of each category.
