On October 9, the Universal Postal Union held the 2026 World Post Day celebration at its headquarters in Switzerland. China was recognized as one of the Regional Champions in terms of 2IDP in 2026, and China Post Group led the Asia-Pacific region in this aspect.
The Integrated Index for Postal Development (2IPD), developed by the Universal Postal Union, offers a standardized method for assessing postal development level quantitatively in individual countries. The 2IPD, covering 181 countries, provides data-based support for their policy making, international peer benchmarking and economic growth analysis. It evaluates postal operators around the world upon four fundamental dimensions: reach, reliability, relevance and resilience. Among them, reach evaluates the level of postal connectivity, including the volume of outbound and inbound mail, the number of partners and data sources. Reliability assesses the speed and predictability of delivery within a specific country, calculating the average or median time, standard deviation (SD) and interquartile range (IQR) based on track-and-trace data. Relevance measures the degree of competitiveness of a given operator in its most important business segment (letters, parcels, financial services, other services) and the density of its infrastructure (post offices, parcel lockers, mobile post offices, etc.). Resilience estimates the postal capacity to overcome economic, technological, and environmental shocks, including logistics efficiency, business resilience and social inclusiveness (like financial inclusion).
With its connected, convenient and smart postal network, China Post serves millions of households, links different industries and cities, and reaches all parts of the world, thereby fulfilling its role as the lifeline of the nation, a driver of development and a pillar of people’s livelihoods.
