China Post will issue a set of three commemorative stamps featuring the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, namely Innovation Drive, Poverty Alleviation and Developing the District with Ecology, with a denomination of 3.6 yuan (0.52 U.S. dollars), on September 19, 2018.

2018 marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The people of all ethnic groups in Ningxia have made great achievements in economic and social development in the past 60 years, especially in the 40 years of Reform and Opening-up, and demonstrated the superiority of the system of regional autonomy for national minorities.

Ningxia is implementing the strategies of Innovation Drive, Poverty Alleviation and Developing the District with Ecology, and striving to create a pilot area of transformation and development in the western region, a demonstration area of national unity and progress, a pilot area of ecological civilization construction in the western region, and a national demonstration area for poverty alleviation.

The people of all ethnic groups in the region are invigorating themselves, and striving for economic prosperity, national unity, a beautiful environment and individual prosperity, and to build a well-off society in an all-round way in step with the whole country.

Using hand-painted techniques, this set of stamps provides some fresh perspectives on the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region 60 years after its establishment.

The first stamp displays the high-tech industries represented by high-end CNC machine tool manufacturing, the civil-military integration industries represented by airship manufacturing, and the energy industries represented by the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base and wind power generation, all of which show the brand-new image of Ningxia's in-depth implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy.

The second is based on the Yuanlong village residence in Minning Town. It depicts the ecological migration project Ningxia implemented, Ningxia's unique selenium-rich melon, Chinese wolfberry and beach sheep and so on, showing the targeted poverty alleviation the autonomous region conducted through developing characteristic industries. It shows the joy and unity of the people of all ethnic groups in Ningxia during the 60th anniversary celebration and their confidence in building a better homeland.

The third shows a corner of Yinchuan city and the Malan flower, which symbolize the perseverance and courage of Ningxia's people, in the foreground. It combines the elements of Helan Mountains, Liupan Mountains, the Yellow River and wetlands, depicting a landscape painting of “Jiangnan of the Frontier” and showing a bright future for the concept of developing the district with ecology in Ningxia.

The stamp was designed by Wu Shining, an outstanding young designer, and was printed by the Shenyang Post Printing Factory using an offset printing process.
