  • China’s Space Station...2022-27

    On December 25, China Post is to issue a set of four commemorative stamps entitled China’s Space Station. The pictures of the stamps are named as Space Transport System, Space Science, Extravehicular Activities and Home in Space respectively. The denomination of the whole set of stamps is 5.40 yuan. And the planned circulation is 8 million sets of such stamps and 1.1 million sheetlets (layout 2).

    The stamps are designed in a se-tenant form, and take dark blue as the dominant hue, reflecting the mystery and vastness of space and manifesting the glorious and dream-realizing course of China’s manned spaceflight project in moving from planet Earth to the vast cosmos over the past 30 years via the four images of the stamps.

    The first stamp is called Space Transport System. It shows the soaring Long March 5B heavy-lift rocket in its foreground, and in the background the three types of rockets used in launching manned spaceships, cargo spacecraft, the core module and other modules during the construction of the Chinese space station, as well as a ship and a radar for Telemetry, Tracking and Command ( TT&C) and a return capsule of the TT&C satellite.

    The second one is Space Science. It presents in the form of icons different types of space science experiments such as space life science, microgravity combustion science, microgravity fluid science, space astronomy and astrophysics.

    The third one is Extravehicular Activities. It depicts two taikonauts entering space to carry out extravehicular activities, like extravehicular operations on the robotic arm and the outer wall of the spacecraft.

    The fourth one is Home in Space. It takes the Chinese space station circling the earth as the main body and presents the vast and boundless space with strong visual impact, implying China’s aspirations to boost its strength in aerospace, build a home in space, and explore the unknown universe, and pinning on China’s good wishes for the peaceful use of outer space and for the open and shared development for the welfare of humanity.

  • The National Parks2022-26

    China Post is to issue a set of five commemorative stamps entitled The National Parks on November 5, 2022. The designs are respectively the Three-River-Source National Park, the Giant Panda National Park, the Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park, the Hainan Tropical Forests National Park, and the Wuyishan National Park. The denomination of the whole set is 6 yuan and the planned circulation is 7.6 million sets.

    By implementing the national park system, China aims to maintain the primitiveness and integrity of natural ecology, protect biodiversity and ecological security, and preserve precious natural assets for future generations. It is an important measure taken by China to promote ecological protection, build a beautiful country and pursue harmony between humans and nature. At Leaders’ Summit of the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity held on October 12, 2021, President Xi Jinping declared that China officially designated its first group of national parks, including the Three-River-Source National Park, the Giant Panda National Park, the Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park, the Hainan Tropical Forests National Park, and the Wuyishan National Park. With a protected land area of 230,000 square kilometers in 10 provinces, the five national parks are home to nearly 30 percent of the key terrestrial wildlife species found in China.

    This set of stamps is designed on the basis of photographic works and presented in a graphic design manner. On the left side of each design is the representative landscape of the corresponding national park; encircled by a ring of perforations are some representative animals presented with carved lines and images; on the right some representative plants. The designs as a whole highlight the gorgeous natural landscape and rich ecological resources of the five national parks.

    This set of stamps is co-designed by Ma Lihang, Liu Bo and Yin Xiaofei, printed with photogravure technology by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited. On each stamp, the circular part encircled by perforations is printed with colorless orange fluorescent ink, which makes the picture of wild animals more vivid under ultraviolet light thanks to its telescope effect.

  • The 20th National Congress of the Commun...2022-23

    China Post will issue a set of two commemorative stamps and one souvenir sheet under the title of The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on Oct 16, 2022. The design of the first stamp is named "Forging Ahead on the New Journey", the second "Making Contributions in the New Era", and that of the souvenir sheet "Celebrating the Opening of the 20th CPC National Congress". The denomination of the whole set is 8.40 yuan. The planned circulation is 13.9 million sets of the commemorative stamps and 7.9 million pieces of the souvenir sheet.

    The 20th CPC National Congress is an important meeting to be held at a critical moment when the Party and the people of all ethnic groups are embarking on a new journey toward the second centenary goal of building a modern socialist country. The Congress will convene on Oct 16, 2022 in Beijing.

    The first stamp depicts such characters as farmers, medical workers, engineers, professors and young parents with children in their arms. It also shows Tiananmen Rostrum, modern urban and rural landscapes, clear waters and green mountains, as well as graphics representing electronic chips and big data. Together, these elements constitute the image of a thriving new era with a happy life for all. The whole design reflects the high spirit of the Chinese people in forging ahead on the new journey and creating a better life under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China.

    The second stamp depicts people from all walks of life, including students, farmers, policemen, workers, medical workers, public officials, athletes, astronauts, PLA soldiers and others, taking the oath under the Party flag. Together with such elements as the Monument to the People's Heroes and the Museum of the Communist Party of China, the design of the stamp highlights that the Chinese people are holding high the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, forging ahead with enterprise and fortitude, making greater contributions in the new era, and striving for the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.

    The souvenir sheet features the Party emblem, red flags, the Great Hall of the People and people of all ethnic groups in celebration. Integrated with the musical notations of three songs in praise of the new era and the great achievements of the people led by the Party as well as elements of peonies and doves, such a design creates a warm atmosphere and demonstrates the joy of Chinese people of all ethnic groups working together and celebrating the opening of the 20th CPC National Congress.

  • The 120th Anniversary of Beijing Normal ...2022-21

    China Post is to issue a set of one commemorative stamp entitled The 120th Anniversary of Beijing Normal University. The denomination of the stamp is 1.2 yuan, and the planned circulation is 7.8 million sets.

    As a national key university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education, Beijing Normal University (BNU) is a well-known university with its main characteristics of teacher education, educational science and basic disciplines in sciences and humanities. BNU grew out of the Education Department of Imperial University of Peking established in 1902. Later in 1908, it was named as Supreme Education School of Peking, and became independent. In 1923, its name changed to National Beijing Normal University, the first Normal University in China’s history. During the 10th Five-Year Plan period, it entered into “Project 985”, a national project to bring a handful of elite universities to international prominence. And in 2017, BNU was listed in the “world-class universities” of Class A.

    Designed by Yu Tong, the stamp takes the emblem of BNU as its main body, supplemented by elements such as the university motto “学为人师,行为世范” (Learn, so as to instruct others. Act, to serve as example to all.) as well as the main building of BNU. Besides, it takes fine circular lines around the emblem as the background, representing the transmission of the unceasing sound of muduo (the central image of the university emblem, which is a kind of bell used in ancient China and symbolizes the sound of teaching) in tune with the beat of the times. With the overall composition full and clear, the stamp highlights BNU’s spirit and mission, and fully demonstrates its profound historical heritage and vigorous atmosphere of the times.

  • Modern Chinese Scientists (Series 9)...2022-20

    China Post is to issue a set of 4 commemorative stamps entitled Modern Chinese Scientists (Series 9) on September 7, 2022. The images on the stamps are respectively Liu Dongsheng, Cheng Kaijia, Wu Wenjun, Yuan Longping. The denomination of the whole set is 4.80 yuan. 

    On the journey of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, generations of scientists, with motherland and people in mind, have braved hardships and made selfless and outstanding contributions to the progress of science and technology, the improvement of people's lives, and the prosperity of the country. In the new era, it is even more necessary to inherit and carry forward the patriotism of shouldering the responsibility of developing China and the Chinese nation, it is even more necessary to carry forward the spirit of scientists  with patriotism as the defining feature.

    Liu Dongsheng (1917-2008), geologist and senior academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, made lots of achievements in China’s vertebrate paleontology, Quaternary geology, environmental science and environmental geology, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and polar exploration and other scientific research fields, especially in loess research. In 2003, he won the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award.

    Cheng Kaijia (1918-2018), physicist and one of the pioneers of China’s nuclear weapons research, made outstanding contributions to the development and testing of nuclear weapons. He published the first monograph on solid state physics in China. He was the Special Prize winner of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 1985, winner of the Two Bombs, One Satellite Achievement Medal in 1999, and winner of the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award in 2013.

    Wu Wenjun (1919-2017), mathematician, made great achievements in the fields of topology and mathematical mechanization and played a linking role in the development of topology. He was awarded the national honorary title of "the People's Scientist" in 2019, and won the first State Preeminent Science and Technology Award in 2000.

    Yuan Longping (1930-2021), agronomist, was a world famous expert in hybrid rice breeding, also known as the “father of hybrid rice”. His research on hybrid rice varieties from the 1960s to 1970s gave a boost to agricultural production, resulting in a substantial increase in grain output in both the Chinese Mainland and the world. The rice research under his lead made breakthroughs between 1970 and 2000. He won the Medal of the Republic in 2019, and the first State Preeminent Science and Technology Award in 2000.

  • China National Archives of Publications ...2022-15

    China Post is to issue a set of one special stamp entitled China National Archives of Publications and Culture on July 30, 2022. The denomination of the stamp is 1.2 yuan, and the planned circulation is 7.9 million sets.

    From the perspective of national strategic resources, China National Archives of Publications and Culture (hereinafter referred to as CNAPC) coordinates and promotes the collection, utilization, inheritance and development of Chinese bibliology resources, which is of great significance for further promoting the building of China into a socialist country with great cultural strength. CNAPC comprises one headquarters and three branches, with the headquarters in Beijing and three branches in Xi'an, Hangzhou and Guangzhou, respectively. Together, these archives serve as a general database of national bibliology resources and the Chinese culture seed gene bank. With bibliology resources at all times and across the world that bear the imprint of Chinese civilization as collections, CNAPC is a comprehensive venue integrating functions of libraries, museums, archives, art galleries and so on.

    This set of stamp is designed by Shi Yuan. The stamp image is axisymmetric. It takes Wenhan Pavilion—the core building of CNAPC Beijing headquarters as the main body, and turquoise landscape painting as visual elements, which gives the image the charm of traditional Chinese paintings, and fully demonstrates the profound cultural inheritance of CNAPC, thus typifying traditional aesthetics.

  • The 100th Anniversary of the Adoption of...2022-14

    China Post is to issue a set of one-piece commemorative stamp on July 23, 2022 for the centenary of the adoption of the first Constitution of the Communist Party of China (hereinafter referred to as the first Party Constitution). The denomination of the stamp is 1.20 yuan, and the planned circulation is 6.8 million sets.

    The Second National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held in Shanghai from July 16 to 23, 1922. Twelve delegates attended the congress, representing the 195 CPC members nationwide. The congress explicitly put forward an anti-imperialist and anti-feudal program for democratic revolution, which pointed out the direction for the revolutionary struggle of the Chinese people of all ethnic groups; it also formulated and adopted the first Constitution of the Communist Party of China. Consisting of six chapters which include twenty-nine articles, the Party Constitution stipulated in detail the qualification and procedures for Party membership, specified the organizational principles, organizational structure, and disciplines and system of the Party, and reflected the principle of democratic centralism, thus bearing great significance in the self-improvement of the Party. The adoption of the first Party Constitution marks the final completion of the CPC’s creation of its political program, theory and organization. From then on, the CPC had its own foundation and highest code of conduct, and the cause of the Party moved towards a broader new ground. The first Party Constitution, now collected in the National Archives Administration of China, is the only copy extant.

    The stamp is designed by Zhang Fan with graphic design and hand-drawn sketch. Taking the Party emblem, selected chapters of the first Party Constitution and the site of the Second National Congress of the CPC as the main body, a fluttering Party flag as the background, and using gradient colors symbolizing the sun is rising in the east, the whole picture implies that the dawn of revolution is shining on China and illuminating the road to the future, and vividly reflects the glorious course of the Party in uniting and leading the Chinese people to work tirelessly and the great achievement thus made.

  • Hydropower Development...2022-13

    China Post is to issue special stamps entitled Hydropower Development on Jun 28, 2022. Jointly planned by China Post and China Three Gorges Corporation, this set of stamps consists of 2 pieces, the designs of which are respectively named Wudongde Hydropower Station and Baihetan Hydropower Station. The denomination of the stamps is 2.40 yuan. The planned circulation is 6.8 million sets.

    Wudongde Hydropower Station in the first design of the stamps is located on the main stream of the Jinsha River at the junction of Luquan county in Yunnan Province and Huidong county in Sichuan Province. It is the seventh largest hydropower station in the world and the fourth largest in China. Its first batch of electricity-generation units were put into operation on June 29, 2020, and all units became fully operational on June 16, 2021. Baihetan Hydropower Station, the second design, is located on the main stream of the Jinsha River on the border of Ningnan county in Sichuan Province and Qiaojia county in Yunnan Province. Its first batch of units began generating power on June 28, 2021, and all will be in operation in 2022. When completed, it will become the world's second largest hydropower station after the Three Gorges Dam. These two hydropower stations are the two energy infrastructure projects with the largest installed capacity that have begun construction and put in operation in China since the 18th National Congress of the CPC. They are also major projects of the country in implementing the west-east power transmission program and improving the energy mix. Together with Xiluodu Hydropower Station, Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station, the Three Gorges Dam and Gezhouba Dam, they constitute the world largest clean energy corridor, and provide strong momentum for the green development of China's economy and society.

    This set of stamps applies horizontal and vertical formats, depicting with unique watercolor painting techniques the majesty of the two hydropower stations when the dams are open to discharge water. The stamps take turquoise as the main color, the sparkling water surface at the upstream of the dams and the spectacular scene of misty clouds hovering while discharging water at the downstream form contrast between the static and dynamic, and thus create a strong visual impact.

    On June 6, 2022, China Post is to issue a set of one commemorative stamp entitled 120th Anniversary of Southeast University. The denomination is 1.20 Yuan and 7.98 million be issued.

    Southeast University (SEU), located in Nanjing, the ancient capital of six dynasties, is a prestigious institution of higher learning renowned both at home and abroad. As one of the national key universities directly subordinate to the Ministry of Education of China and jointly established with Jiangsu Province, it is also listed as one of the universities involved in National “985 Project” “211 Project”. In 2017, SEU was ranked on the list of constructing “Class A first-rate world universities”. SEU, as one of the time-honored institutions of higher learning in China with profound cultural heritage, its origin can be traced back to 1902 when it was founded as Sanjiang Normal College. In 1920, it was named National Southeast University, and in 1921, June 6 was set as the anniversary day. In 1988, Nanjing Institute of Technology was renamed Southeast University by the State Education Commission. In the past 120-year school management, SEU, in the spirit of patriotism and concerning people all over the world, has been always making unyielding efforts in pursuit of prominence to achieve scientific progress and national rejuvenation. It has trained nearly 370,000 outstanding talents for the country and society, and made significant contributions to the national and regional economic and social development.

    This set of stamp is designed by Yu Qiuyan. The stamp features a hand-drawn plan of SEU’s former auditorium above the image of an open book and the founding time, implying that this prestigious university has been committed to nurturing talents for 120 years . Together with the coordinately arranged background elements such as the logo of the university, the emblem, the anniversary logo of "120" and the university motto, the overall picture is rigorously structured with sober and stately hues, highlighting SEU’s long history and profound heritage.

The laser carving lines enhance the 3D effect of the main architecture. Special UV gold ink makes the picture shine with metallic luster.   • We Grow Together, My Country and Me...2022-11

    China Post is to issue a set of 5 special stamps entitled We Grow Together, My Country and Me on June 1, 2022. The names of the designs are respectively Loving My Motherland, Studying Diligently, Pursuing Science, Developing Physical Prowess and Respecting Labor. The denomination of the whole set is 5.20 yuan, and 6.1 million stamps are planned to be issued.

    Based on the creative concept of unifying political character, sense of times and artistic quality, the special stamps We Grow Together, My Country and Me are planned by China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), co-created by outstanding artists Kang Lei, Wang Zikun, Feng Xu, Kong Liang, Liu Qing from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), and designed by Hang Hai (also from CAFA). The five stamps are created with five artistic techniques: oil painting, traditional Chinese painting, digital painting, print and sculpture. Five different designs on five different background colors decorated with anthurium and other flower elements reflect diversified artistic styles while achieving overall unity and harmony.

    The first stamp Loving My Motherland presents with oil painting techniques the scene of children saluting the national flag, with sunflowers in full bloom symbolizing the children's vigorous spirit and sincere patriotic feelings. The second design Studying Diligently depicts the image of a young pioneer who is studying hard and fully absorbed in her book, its background elements — a model of the self-developed C919 aircraft and other scientific symbols indicate the rapid development of the motherland in the new era. The third design Pursuing Science depicts with digital painting techniques a child in spacesuit flying in space, its background elements of China’s space station and Shenzhou spacecraft imply that Chinese children are keeping pace with the development of China’s cutting-edge science and technology, embracing hi-tech and aspiring to a bright future. The fourth design Developing Physical Prowess depicts an ice-skating child via print techniques, its background elements of the National Speed Skating Oval, the blue and white colors and snowflakes recall to mind the recently concluded Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. The fifth design Respecting Labor portrays two young pioneers planting trees in spring with the techniques of sculpture. They are nurturing their beautiful dreams, and sowing their hope for green environment with a bucket of water and a shovel of earth. Its background elements of forest farm and the Fuxing bullet train symbolize that Chinese people are marching together towards the goal of a beautiful China with lucid waters and lush mountains.

On the sheet, gold spot ink is used to highlight the golden luster of the Tian’anmen gate tower, and pearlescent process to add texture to the picture, all of which create an image of children growing healthily under the sunshine of the Party in the new era.
