The tabs feature important cultural artifacts recommended by each museum, showcasing the splendid traditional culture and long historical inheritance of China. Chinese Archaeological Museum on the first stamp is China’s first specialized national museum in the name of archaeology established by the Chinese Academy of History. Liaoning Provincial Museum on the second stamp is a large modern comprehensive museum of history and art. Hubei Provincial Museum on the third stamp is a state-level museum housing a collection of cultural relics in complete systems, abundant quantity, exquisite quality and distinctive regional characteristics, therefore enjoying a high reputation at home and abroad. Hunan Museum on the fourth stamp is the largest history and art museum in Hunan province and one of the first batch of state-level museums. It houses such featured collections as the cultural relics excavated from the world-famous Mawangdui Tombs of Han Dynasty, the bronze wares of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, cultural relics of Chu State, pottery and porcelain works from various dynasties, calligraphy works and paintings, religious objects, handicrafts and cultural relics of modern times. Sanxingdui Museum on the fifth stamp, whose new building is constructed in line with the world-class museums, is currently the largest single building of an archaeological site museum in southwest China. The cultural relics in the museum vividly reveal the glory of the ancient Shu civilization, highlighting the permanent charm of Chinese culture and the times.

Each stamp is designed with distinctive anti-counterfeiting ink technology, and the distinctive ink in turn gives each stamp a sense of mystery and unique charms in color and texture. • China Shipbuilding Industry (Series 2)...2024-5

China Post is to issue a set of four special stamps entitled China Shipbuilding Industry (Series 2) on April 23, 2024. The stamp designs are respectively named Aircraft Carrier—CNS Shandong, Type 055 Destroyer, China’s FirstDomestically-built Large Cruise Ship, and World’s First 23,000 TEU Dual-Fuel Container Ship. The denomination of the whole set is 4.8 yuan. The planned circulation is 7.4 million sets, and 900,000 sheets for layout 2.

After the reform and opening-up, shipbuilding is the first industry in China to go global and engage in international competition. Today, China has become a major country whose shipbuilding industry has world influence, with its product range covering all types of ships in the market, and the development, design, technology and management increasingly improving. After more than 70 years of arduous efforts, China’s shipbuilding industry has made important contributions to the development of national defense and national economy, and its brilliant achievements have attracted worldwide attention.

On December 17, 2019, the first domestically-built aircraft carrier, CNS Shandong, was officially delivered in Hainan, marking that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy officially ushered in the era of domestic aircraft carriers. The CNS Nanchang, commissioned in the PLA Navy in January 2020, is the first Type 055 destroyer independently developed by China, and typically represents the new quality combat capabilities of the PLA Navy. The delivery of China’s first domestically-made large cruise ship, Adora Magic City, indicates that China has become a country that can build aircraft carriers, large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and large cruise ships at the same time. The world’s first 23,000 TEU dual-fuel container ship was officially delivered in September 2020. Its dual-fuel power system is the first of its kind that uses LNG as the main fuel on ultra-large container ships in the world, and its greatest advantage is that it conforms to the world’s most stringent emission standard and can greatly reduce environmental pollution compared with traditional fuel container ships.

The stamps showcase the brilliant achievements China has made in the field of shipbuilding from the aspects of maritime defense, ocean tourism and ocean transportation. As the four hulls are quite different in their actual sizes, they are aligned on the stamps from particular perspectives and directions so as to become adaptable to the pictures. The vessels are framed against different styles of marine landscapes, which makes the color of the stamps fresh and rich, and highlights the distinctive visual feature of each vessel.

The set of stamps is designed by Shen Jiahong and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited via offset technology.

This set of stamps will be available for 6 months at designated postal outlets nationwide, online mall of China Philately (https://jiyou.11185.cn), the mobile app of China Post, the WeChat Mall for philatelic products in the official WeChat account and the WeChat mini program of China Post Group. • Year of Jiachen2024-1

China Post is to issue a set of two special stamps Year of Jiachen on January 5. The stamp designs are respectively named Golden Dragon Flying Forward and Two Dragons Offering Blessings. The denomination of the whole set is 2.4 yuan. The planned circulation is 29.98 million sets, 1.8 million sheets (layout 2) and 4.5 million stamp booklets.

In the Chinese zodiac culture, a dragon is a divine animal that symbolizes nobility and strength, and implies auspiciousness and good luck to common people. The two designs of this set of stamps draw on the cultural genes from the classic images of Chinese dragon, combine the features of Chinese zodiac culture and the artistic characteristics of stamps, and illustrate the dragon images via graphic design, thus showing the cultural heritage in the new era. The pictures are concise and bright, and the colors festive and auspicious, symbolizing happiness and good luck. The first stamp Golden Dragon Flying Forward depicts a golden dragon holding its head high and forging ahead, symbolizing the spirit of vigorous progress and self-improvement. Agile, graceful and majestic, the image and posture of the golden dragon originate from the Nine-Dragon Wall of the Forbidden City. The dragon is surrounded by auspicious flames and clouds on a Chinese red background, presenting a beautiful picture of auspiciousness, harmony, and good fortune. The picture of the second stamp Two Dragons Offering Blessings originates from the traditional Chinese auspicious pattern of dragons encircling jadeware. The round-shaped design and the square-shaped stamp form a layout indicating the ancient Chinese philosophy of the Round Heaven and Square Earth, making the overall design harmonious and solemn. The jadeware object on the center is inscribed with a compound graph of two Chinese characters “祥瑞” (meaning “auspicious signs”), which symbolizes peace, happiness, security and good fortune. The ruyi scepter patterns on the top imply harmony and auspiciousness. The water patterns, cloud patterns and dragon images below demonstrate the grand scene of dragons hovering around, conveying the good wishes of suitable weather, prosperity and peace for the country and people. The main colors of the two stamps are red, gold and black, reflecting a grand, noble, auspicious and happy atmosphere. The two stamp designs, one dynamic and the other static, complement and reinforce each other.

This set of stamps was designed by Wang Huming, and printed by Beijing Stamp Factory via offset intaglio technology.

On the same day, China Post will join hands with Hongkong Post and Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) to issue a miniature sheet on the same Chinese zodiac theme for the first time.
