The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council have approved the proposal for designating the Autumnal Equinox of the lunar calendar as Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival starting in 2018.

The first Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival will fall on September 23, 2018.

Farmers form the majority of China's population and are the foundation of the of the CPC's rule. They have made great contributions to the revolution, construction, reform and other historical periods in China.

Chinese President and General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed that we should neither neglect agriculture nor forget farmers and rural areas at any time.

In the critical period of poverty alleviation, the CPC Central Committee decided to create the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, which conforms to the requirements and expectations of the new era and will greatly arouse the enthusiasm, initiative and creativity of millions of farmers.

At the decisive stage of building a well-off society in an all-round way, this measure will enhance farmers’ sense of honor, happiness and sense of achievement, and rally tremendous power to fight poverty, implement the strategy of rural revitalization, and accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.

The stamp shows the farmers’ celebration of harvest in the golden autumn. A young couple wave drumsticks and dance happily. Behind them are golden crops overflowing in the granary. Magpies fly in the air, adding to the atmosphere of rejoicing and festivity.

The picture shows the terraces of the south in the distance. The foreground and background complement each other, forming a picture of the whole country celebrating and enjoying the harvest.
