China Post plans to launch a set of four commemorative stamps and one miniature sheet themed Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 --- Competition Venues on June 23, 2021. The planned circulation is 7.5 million for the commemorative stamps and 6.3 million for the miniature sheet. The 24th Olympic Winter Games will be held from February 4th to 20th, 2022 in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, which is the first time for China to host the Winter Games in history. Twelve venues are planned to be used, which are located in three competition zones Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou. The patterns of the commemorative stamps are the Big Air Shougang, the National Aquatic Center, National Ski Jumping Centre, National Sliding Centre, and the pattern of the miniature sheet is the National Speed Skating Oval. This set of stamps adopts graphic design technique, with full picture composition and rich colors. The stamps are designed in se-tenant block, with a curve running through them. According to the structural characteristics of the venue, the miniature sheet is oval-shaped and ornamented with snowflakes on the decorative margins. At the same time, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics emblem and sports icons on the set of stamps give it more sense of rhythm.
The set of the stamps is designed by Guo Zhiyi and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited with bi-color carving technology. The miniature sheet is jointly designed by Dai Sha and Guo Zhiyi and printed by Henan Posts and Telecommunications Science and Technology Co. Ltd. Fresnel lens micro-nano lithography technology is used for the miniature sheet for the first time. Engraving ink made of special materials and full-color night scene printing technology are applied to it. The set of stamps will be sold for a period of six months at designated postal outlets and such online channels as online mall of China philately, China Post Mobile App and so on. In order to fully display the content of the stamps, China Post will release digital content such as introduction to the competition venues of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games and stamp craftsmanship through the WeChat applet of “Encyclopedia of China Philately and Stamps”, which can be viewed using the AR function. |
