China Post is to issue a set of one commemorative stamp entitled The 50th Anniversary of the Restoration of the Lawful Seat of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations on October 25, 2021. The denomination of the stamp is 1.2 yuan, and 7 million sets are planned to be issued. At its 26th Session in 1971, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 2758 with an overwhelming majority, restoring all the lawful rights to the People's Republic of China in the United Nations. This was a landmark in history. It signified that the UN had truly become the most representative and authoritative inter-governmental organization. It also opened a new chapter in China's cooperation with the UN. Over the past 50 years, China, with concrete actions, has lived up to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and has served as an important builder of world peace, the biggest contributor to global development, and a firm defender of international order. The stamp adopts a concise and modern illustration to depict the scene of the national flag of the People's Republic of China flying in front of the United Nations Headquarters complex, which has both the sense of the times and the sense of solemnity. The white doves in the picture symbolize peace, friendship and unity, making the picture much lively at the same time.
The stamp is designed by Guo Zhiyi and printed with photogravure technology by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited. The set of stamp will be put on sale for a period of six months at the designated outlets of China Post, philatelic mall online, the app of China Post, philatelic shop of micro post office on WeChat and the WeChat mini program. To present more information about the stamp, China Post will release the digital contents through the WeChat mini program “Encyclopedia of China Philately and Stamps”, where viewers can learn more about the stamp via its AR function. |
