China Post is to issue a souvenir sheet for the special stamp entitled Our Motherland So Rich in Beauty on September 25, 2021. The denomination of this set of stamp is 6 yuan, and 6 million sets will be issued.

Our Motherland So Rich in Beauty has its origin in a huge, colorful landscape painting co-created in 1959 by contemporary Chinese painters Fu Baoshi and Guan Shanyue. The original painting is 6.5 meters high and 9 meters wide, where late Chairman Mao Zedong inscribed six Chinese characters “江山如此多娇” (meaning “Our Motherland So Rich in Beauty”) as the title. This masterpiece artistically integrates almost all views that best represents China’s magnificent landscape and the spirit of the Chinese nation as well. The painting encompasses the scenery on both sides of the Great Wall and all along the Yellow River in four different seasons, which perfectly illustrates the soul of the popular poem Snow Tune: Spring in a Pleasure Garden written by Mao Zedong. Such a great work has become a classic in the history of Chinese art.

Through graphic design techniques, the stamp displays the magnificent landscape of the original painting. With the quietly elegant traditional patterns on the margins setting off the grandeur and majesty of the painting, the overall design is simple but graceful, creating the classic effect. The stamp is designed by Wang Huming and printed by Henan Posts and Telecommunications Printing House via offset intaglio technology.

The set of stamp will be on sale for a period of six months at the designated outlets of China Post, philatelic mall online, the app of China Post, philatelic shop of micro post office on WeChat and the WeChat mini program China Post mall. To present more information about the stamp, China Post will release digital contents through the WeChat mini program “Encyclopedia of China Philately and Stamps”, where viewers can learn more about the stamp via its AR function.
