China Post is to issue a set of two commemorative stamps entitled The 33rd Summer Olympic Games on July 26, 2024. The designs of the two stamps are respectively named Swimming and Sport Climbing. The denomination of the set of stamps is 2.40 yuan, and the planned circulation is 6,269,000 sets.

The 33rd Summer Olympic Games will take place in Paris, France, from July 26 to August 11, 2024, local time. It is after precisely a century that Olympiad returns to Paris. And Paris, capital of France, will become the second city after London to host the Summer Olympics for three times.

With streamlined and sketchy graphic design, the stamps reveal the exhilarating moments of the two sports. The first stamp Swimming depicts the image of a male freestyle swimmer. With an upward view from under water, the picture presents the posture of an athlete cleaving waves and forging ahead with great efforts. The second stamp Sport Climbing portrays the image of a female speed climber. From a lateral view, the picture shows the movements of an athlete lifting her leg to set foot on a hold and pulling up as she climbs. The background of the two stamps features the Eiffel Tower and other landmarks of Paris, reflecting the local colors of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

With high-precision offset printing technology, the overall picture of this set of stamps appears to be bright and vibrant, and its border decoration bears naturally gradient colors. Meanwhile, the partially-used koldfoil technology helps highlight the thematic background and enhance the dynamism of the picture.

This set of stamps is designed by Shen Jiahong and Shang Ying, edited by Liu Jian, and printed with offset printing technology (partially koldfoil technology) by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited.

The set of stamps will be available for six months at designated postal outlets nationwide, online mall of China Philately (https://jiyou.11185.cn), the mobile app of China Post, the WeChat Mall for philatelic products in the official WeChat account and the WeChat mini program of China Post Group. To present more information about the stamps, China Post will release their digital contents through the WeChat mini program “Encyclopedia of China Philately and Stamps”, where philatelists can learn more about the stamps via its AR function.
