China Post is to issue a set of one commemorative stamp entitled The 9th Asian Winter Games on February 7, 2025. The denomination of the stamp is 1.2 yuan, and the planned circulation is 6.49 million sets. The 9th Asian Winter Games will be held in Harbin, capital of northeast China’s Heilongjiang province from February 7 to 14, 2025. It is another major comprehensive international winter sport event that China will host after the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games. It is also the third time that China has staged such regional games following Harbin in 1996 and Changchun, capital city of Jilin province, in 2007. The emblem of the 9th Asian Winter Games, “Breakthrough”, the mascots, Siberian tigers “Binbin” and “Nini”, and the slogan “Dream of Winter, Love among Asia”, mean that the stage has been set for Asian athletes to demonstrate the charm of winter sports, pursue self-improvement, and realize their dreams. And they also highlight the shared hope of the people of Asia in promoting solidarity and friendship with sincerity and warmth, and express the vision of pursuing peace and development and building a community with a shared future for mankind. This set of stamp features a hexagonal shape, and takes the mascots of the 9th Asian Winter Games—Siberian tigers “Binbin” and “Nini” as the main body of the picture, complete with the emblem and some core graphics. The stamp is printed with high screen ruling photogravure technology. It takes blue as the main tone and adds special pearlescent materials to enhance the visual effect of the background and enrich visual hierarchy. At the same time, the snowflake-shaped perforations and snowflake color patches help integrate the technology with the theme and highlight the beauty of ice and snow in the venue of this Asian Winter Games. The stamp is designed by Chen Jingyi, edited by Liu Jian, and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited with Photogravure technology. The set of stamp will be available for six months at designated postal outlets nationwide, online mall of China Philately (https://jiyou.11185.cn), the mobile app of China Post, the WeChat Mall for philatelic products in the official WeChat account and the WeChat mini program of China Post Group. To present more information about the stamp, China Post will release the digital contents through the WeChat mini program “Encyclopedia of China Philately and Stamps”, where philatelists can learn more about the stamp via its AR function. |
