China Post is to issue a set of four special stamps entitled The Greater Khingan Mountains on August 8. The designs of the stamps are respectively named Wetlands, Volcanoes, Forests and Aurora Borealis. The denomination of the whole set is 4.00 yuan, and the planned circulation is 4.6 million sets and 693,000 sheets for layout 2.

The Greater Khingan Mountains is an important mountain range in Northeast China, the divide between the Inner Mongolian Plateau and the Songliao Plain, and also one of the key state-owned forest areas and one of the main distribution areas of natural forests. The stamps sequentially feature four highly representative local landscapes — wetlands, volcanoes, forests, and aurora borealis, vividly presenting the beautiful scroll of seasonal changes in the Greater Khingan Mountains and showcasing the abundant natural resources and beautiful ecological environment in the area.

The first stamp, Wetlands, depicts the wetland scenery when migratory birds return and the azaleas are in bloom, revealing the sound ecological environment of the Greater Khingan Mountains.

The second stamp, Volcanos, presents the scenery of a crater lake formed by volcanic activity, demonstrating the unique geological environment of the area.

The third stamp, Forests, captures the autumn scenery of the Greater Khingan Mountains, exhibiting the colorful landscape of the vast primeval forests.

The fourth stamp, Auroras, portrays the stunning scene of brilliant aurora borealis lighting up the winter sky, highlighting the distinctive celestial phenomena in high-latitude areas.

This set of stamps is printed with high-precision offset printing technology. The combination of fluorescent and varnish effects revivifies the magnificent scenery and unique charm of the Greater Khingan Mountains, adding distinctive visual highlights to the stamps. Under ultraviolet light, the river on the first stamp shimmers like the source of life in the wetland ecosystem, meandering through the wetland. The blend of fluorescence and varnish on the second stamp transforms the profound volcanic energy into a unique landscape. The technology applied on the third stamp makes the lush trees even more gorgeous. The interweaving of the brilliant aurora borealis and the snow-capped mountains on the fourth stamp adds more mystery and fantasy to the picture.

This set of stamps is designed by Yin Huili and Han Lu, edited by Wen wenya, and printed with offset printing technology by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited.

The stamps will be available for six months at designated postal outlets nationwide, online mall of China Philately (https://jiyou.11185.cn), the mobile app of China Post, the WeChat Mall for philatelic products in the official WeChat account and the WeChat mini program of China Post Group. To present more information about the stamps, China Post will release their digital content through the WeChat mini program “Encyclopedia of China Philately and Stamps”, where philatelists can learn more about the stamps via its AR function.
