  • Masterpieces of Chinese Classical Litera...2023-5

    China Post is to issue a set of 4 special stamps and 1 souvenir sheet entitled Masterpieces of Chinese Classical Literature – Journey to the West (Series 5) on April 27, 2023. The designs of the four stamps are about the adventures in Shituo Mountain, the Kingdom of Biqiu, the Bottomless Cave and the Kingdom of Tianzhu. The souvenir sheet is about the five sages achieving their goals. The denomination of the whole set is 11.10 yuan. The planned circulation is respectively 8.5 million sets, 990 000 sheets for layout two, 5.98 million souvenir sheets, and 150 000 folders for blocks of four stamps are to be issued additionally.

    Journey to the West, written by Chinese novelist Wu Cheng’en in the Ming Dynasty, is one of the classics in ancient Chinese deity and demon novels. The novel consists of 100 chapters which tells the story of Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing escorting the Buddhist monk Xuanzang on his pilgrimage to the Western Heaven to fetch the scriptures. They subdued demons and monsters all the way as they went through eighty-one difficulties before they finally achieved their goals. With a large number of vivid characters, this novel is full of romantic fantasy, contains rich philosophy of life in humor and satire, and criticizes the way of the world while pursuing ideals with unremittingly enterprising spirit.

    This set of stamps is designed by Li Yunzhong, a young painter and member of the Inner Mongolia Artists Association, and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited with photogravure technology.

    These stamps will be available for six months at designated postal outlets nationwide, online mall of China Philately (https://jiyou.11185.cn), the mobile app of China Post, the WeChat Mall for philatelic products in the official WeChat account and the WeChat mini program of China Post Group. To present more information about the stamps, China Post will release their digital contents through the WeChat mini program “Encyclopedia of China Philately and Stamps”, where philatelists can learn more about the stamps via its AR function.

  • The 60th Anniversary of the Publication ...2023-3

    China Post is to issue a set of two commemorative stamps entitled The 60th Anniversary of the Publication of Mao Zedong’s Inscription “Learn from Comrade Lei Feng” on March 5, 2023. The designs are named respectively Comrade Mao Zedong's Inscription and “Lei Feng” Statue. The denomination of the whole set is 2.40 yuan, and the planned circulation is 7.5 million sets.

    Lei Feng, a late Communist soldier and a role model of serving the people wholeheartedly, was born in Hunan province on December 18, 1940. Throughout his lifetime, he studied hard, and worked selflessly for the public interest. In addition to completing his own work, he often helped others, and fulfilled his promise of "devoting the limited life into limitless service for the people". Lei Feng died in the line of duty on August 15, 1962. On March 5, 1963, the People's Daily published Mao Zedong's inscription, calling on the whole country to learn from comrade Lei Feng. Since then, activities of learning from Lei Feng have widely spread throughout China. This year marks the 60th anniversary since revolutionaries of the older generation, including Mao Zedong, wrote inscriptions for comrade Lei Feng.

    The first stamp, Comrade Mao Zedong's Inscription, presents the inscription “Learn from Comrade Lei Feng” written by Mao Zedong, symbolizing that the Lei Feng spirit is passed on from generation to generation and will never fade. The second stamp, “Lei Feng” Statue, features the bronze sculpture “Lei Feng” created by Wu Weishan, which depicts the moment when Lei Feng walked in the spring breeze with a smile on his face, symbolizing the spirit of Lei Feng is brought to the new era, full of vigor and vitality.

    This set of stamps is designed by Wu Weishan and Shi Yuan and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited through offset intaglio (the first design) and photogravure (the second design) technologies.

    On March 5, China Post is to issue a commemorative stamp entitled The 14th National People's Congress of the People’s Republic of China, with one piece in a set and the design bearing the same name. The denomination of the stamp is 1.20 yuan a set, and the planned circulation is 8.8 million sets.

    The first session of the 14th National People's Congress of the People’s Republic of China will be held in Beijing on March 5, 2023. The stamp mainly features the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and the front cover of the Constitution of the People's Republic of China, and takes splendid mountains and rivers as the background, which symbolize the broad masses of the people. Simple but solemn, the whole design implies that the people's congress system of China has been consolidated and developed under the leadership of the Party, and reflects the lofty status of the Constitution.

    Painted by Chen Lei and collectively designed by the Academy of Arts & Designs of Tsinghua University, the stamp is printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited through offset printing technologies.

    China Post is to issue a set of two special stamps entitled Year of Guimao and a stamp booklet on January 5, 2023. The two stamps are respectively named as The Rabbit Sending Blessings and Endless Cycle for Vitality. The denomination of this set of stamps is 2.4 yuan. The planned circulation is 39.5 million pieces for the first stamp, 38 million pieces for the second, 2.3 million sheetlets (layout 2) and 4.8 million stamp booklets.
